Urgent List

It is with deep concern that we must maintain an Urgent List for dogs at our shelter. On average, we take in almost 500 pets each month. Despite record high adoptions and successful rescue transports, the influx of incoming dogs continues to exceed the number of animals leaving through adoption, foster care, or rescue.

Dogs are placed on the Urgent List based on a variety of factors, including behavioral concerns (such as reactivity towards people or other animals), serious medical conditions, deteriorating conditions in the kennel, and space limitations. Importantly, the adoption fee is waived for urgent dogs, as our primary goal is to find them the care and attention they need.

We urgently need fosters. Each additional foster home increases our capacity to care for and find permanent homes for these animals. By opening your home to a dog in need, you help us create more opportunities for those waiting for a chance.

We are doing everything we can to improve conditions at the shelter and alleviate the overwhelming situation we face. However, until the community fully understands the extent of the overpopulation crisis and the actions required to address it, we will remain in this critical position. Our dedicated team has grown deeply attached to these dogs, and although we never want to resort to an Urgent List, it serves as a last-resort measure to give these animals a fighting chance at survival.
