Urgent List

It is with great sadness that we must maintain an URGENT LIST for dogs at the shelter. We take in an average of 498 pets each month. Even with record high numbers of adoptions and rescue transports, the incoming number of dogs is outpacing the outgoing number to adoption, foster and rescue. Dogs are added to the Urgent List based on a number of criteria including aggression towards people, aggression towards other animals, medical conditions, declining in kennel, and lastly for space.

Please become a foster! Every foster home adds to our available space as we work to try to find homes for the dogs in our care.

We are doing everything we can think of as quickly as possible to improve things at the shelter, but until the community understands just how bad the numbers are and what needs to be done to stop the overpopulation crisis, we will always be in the situation we find ourselves in. Our team has gotten to know these dogs and love these dogs through caring for them each day. As much as we hate to even have an Urgent List, it is a final lifesaving effort that we hope will help save dogs by giving them one last chance of getting out.
