Owner Surrendering

Owner Surrendering

All Kind understands that sometimes it may be necessary to find your pet a new home. We will do our very best to find them a new family, however shelters are not the best place for your furry loved ones and should be used as a last resort. Owners need to demonstrate that they have done all they could to keep their animal and have attempted to rehome their pet at least 10 days prior to requesting an owner surrender appointment at the shelter. Here are some things you can do to find your pet a new home without taking it to the shelter:

  • Post pictures and bios on social media and in the newspaper

  • Reach out to a rescue that is specific to breed

  • Post on platforms like Adopt-a-Pet

After you have exhausted all other options and you still need to relinquish your pet, please see the following requirements and considerations:

  • Pets must be fully vaccinated with DHPPV and Bordatella for dogs and HPV for cats at least two weeks prior to the requested surrender appointment date. Please bring Veterinary records.

  • If there is an appointment waiting list, priority will be given to pets that are already spayed/neutered.

YOU MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SURRENDER YOUR PET.

To inquire about owner surrender please email admissions@allkindabilene.org and include your name, address, phone number, description of pet(s) including age, breed and temperament as well as their medical history.
