I Found a Pet
Thank you for helping a pet find their way home or a stray find a new family.
Here are the steps you can take to keep the animal safe.
-
Check to see if the animal has any form of ID and utilize the contact information to reach out to the owner. You can also take the animal to any veterinary clinic, fire station, or the shelter to scan for a microchip.
-
Alert your neighbors and start searching local Lost & Found pet alert sites such as Petco Love Lost, NextDoor.com and local Lost and Found groups on Facebook. You can also post pictures of the pet you found on these sites.
-
Bring the animal into safety. If you can safely foster and care for the animal while the owner is being found, that will help keep a healthy pet from having to enter the shelter. You can still file a “Found Pet” report with us in case the owner contacts the shelter. If you are unable to care for the animal until the owner can be located, Admissions is open for stray drop-off Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM at the shelter.
